That's not a figure of speech. When Carnegie Mellon and Army DEVCOM opened the doors of the new Robotics Innovation Center for their Robotics & AI Conference, we walked to it. From our office. On foot. While others flew in and freighted equipment across the country, we carried our setup down the street and set up shop.
Home court has a way of settling the nerves. There's a particular kind of confidence that comes from knowing the ground you're standing on, and we felt it the moment we arrived.
How we got in the room
The invitation came from our friends at Parallax Research, a research and development non-profit doing serious work out of Pittsburgh. They saw what we were building and made sure we had a seat at the table. It's the kind of guidance that reminds you this city's technical community shows up for its own.
So there we were. Two founders. A table crowded with devices. A capability statement, a quad chart, and a foldable handout that, honestly, looked better than it had any right to. That was the whole operation.
Because the point isn't the table. The point is what was running on every device sitting on it.

For the first time, right here in Pittsburgh, we heard directly from people on the inside of the DoD that our value proposition genuinely resonates with the problems they face. Not "interesting," not "keep in touch," but concrete interest in putting our offline reasoning model to work where it matters.
We left with active follow-ups on pilot opportunities from partners who are already motivated to move. The kind who can identify immediate value in deploying at the edge, articulate a credible path toward long-term funding, and recognize the makings of a lasting relationship. That final piece is the one we care about most. We're a young company moving quickly, and the partners we commit to now will help shape the value, the software, and the culture of what Unplugged AI becomes.
