The Problem with Cloud AI in the Field
Every enterprise AI platform on the market makes the same assumption: you have internet.
For most use cases, that assumption holds. For tactical operations, emergency response, and disconnected deployments, it's a single point of failure that can cost lives, compromise missions, and expose sensitive operational data to interception.
The gap between what AI promises and what it can deliver at the edge is enormous. Network-dependent systems fail when you need them most: in contested RF environments, forward operating positions, disaster zones, and any scenario where connectivity is a luxury rather than a given.
We built Unplugged AI to close that gap.
What We Built
Unplugged AI is a sovereign intelligence system that runs entirely on-device. No cloud calls. No data leaving the device. No connectivity required, ever.
The core stack:
Our inference engine runs entirely on-device, optimized for low-resource environments. On any supported device we achieve under 3 seconds to first token with no network connection required.
Retrieval combines RAG and a knowledge graph: keyword search, vector embeddings, and structured relationship traversal, with source-linked grounding on every answer. Users know exactly where the information came from. No hallucinated citations, no opaque reasoning.
What "sovereign" means:
Your data never leaves your device. The model runs locally. The knowledge base lives on-device. There is no telemetry, no phone-home, no third-party API. The intelligence is yours. You own it, not access it.
Eight Packs Deployed
We've moved past prototypes. Eight packs are deployed in the field today, running in operational environments. Each pack is a complete edge inference system: model, retrieval pipeline, knowledge base, and interface, running on commodity hardware that fits in a pack.
The feedback has validated the core thesis: responders and operators want AI assistance, but not at the cost of connectivity dependency or data exposure.
Where We're Going
We're focused on three immediate priorities:
-
Decision Support Mapping. Building a graph pipeline that surfaces relationships between operational data points, enabling structured decision support beyond Q&A.
-
Modular Knowledge Packs. Domain-specific knowledge modules (medical, tactical, infrastructure, emergency protocols) that can be loaded onto any device without retraining the base model.
-
Contract Close. We're actively engaged with DoD customers through the TradeWinds acquisition pathway. Our pipeline is moving toward first contract close.
The mission is simple: deploy intelligence that works wherever the mission demands, regardless of what the network is doing.
If you're working in an environment where connectivity isn't guaranteed, we built this for you.
